Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPI Wins Classic Motul Petit Le Mans

The world renowned Motul Petit Le Mans is a 10-hour endurance test that on Saturday was dramatically decided in the final seconds in the final three corners of the scenic 2.54-mile Road Atlanta road course nestled in the rolling hills of North Georgia.

The No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R. driven by Renger Van Der Zande, took advantage of the No. 5 Mustang Sampling Racing Cadillac DPi running out of gas three turns from the finish line to take the victory in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season finale by 5.3-seconds over the No. 77 Mazda Team Joest Mazda DPi.

A little further behind on track, the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi benefitted from a different fuel situation – driver Felipe Nasr saving enough gas by a consistently slow and steady late race pace to finish eighth overall, one position behind the closest title contender. But that was still good enough to earn the season Prototype championship - the Action Express Racing Team’s fourth championship in the last five years.

Michelin And Road Atlanta Announce Naming Rights Agreement To Begin in 2019

Beginning in January of 2019, Michelin North America and Road Atlanta will further their existing partnership and make history at the north Georgia race track, as it officially becomes Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

Michelin is writing a new page in the history books at Road Atlanta, as it becomes the first-ever entitlement partner of the track. Equally as significant, Michelin will lend its name to a race track for the first time in its existence.

Currently, Michelin North America serves as the Official Tire Partner at Road Atlanta. The front straight bridge is branded with the tire company’s iconic Michelin Man, as are many other signs throughout the 750-acre property. As soon as the clock rolls into the new year, Michelin’s existing presence at Road Atlanta will be substantially increased, as naming rights to the entire road racing facility will be transferred to the global tire company.
