ASTON MARTIN FACTORY EFFORT RETURNS FOR PETIT LE MANS POWERED BY MAZDA
Fernandez, Primat in Lola-Aston Martin coupe for Monterey, Atlanta
Aston Martin Racing will return to the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron by entering the final two events of the 2011 season. The UK-based factory team will enter an Aston Martin-powered Lola coupe for ModSpace American Le Mans Series Monterey presented by Patron and the 14th annual Petit Le Mans powered by MAZDA - the penultimate round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.
Adrian Fernandez and Harold Primat will drive the works Lola-Aston Martin - complete with its screaming V12 engine - as the new factory AMR-One prototype continues undergoing development for the 2012 season. Last year, Fernandez and Primat drove a Lola-Aston Martin to a third-place finish at Sebring (with Stefan Muecke) and runner-up result at Long Beach.
Coincidentally, that car now resides with Muscle Milk Aston Martin Racing. Klaus Graf and Lucas Luhr are two-time winners in the Series this year for Greg Pickett's team - Long Beach and Mosport.
The ALMS returns to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Saturday, September 17 for a six-hour endurance race. On Saturday, October 1, the Series closes its season with the 14th running of Petit Le Mans - the 1,000-mile/10-hour classic at Road Atlanta.
The next round of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron is the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge, set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 6 with ESPN2 airing the race starting at 10 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 7.
