Evander Holyfield has been named the Grand Marshal for Saturday's Visual Studio Ultimate Grand Prix of Atlanta.
Boxing's sole five-time world heavyweight champion will give the command to start the engines for Round 4 of the 2013 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series race on Saturday, at 4:30 p.m. ET (SPEED, live), for GRAND-AM Road Racing's inaugural race at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga.
Nicknamed "The Real Deal," Holyfield finished his career with a 44-10-1 record, including two triumphs over Mike Tyson and victories over George Foreman and Larry Holmes. He turned professional after winning the bronze medal in the light heavyweight division in the 1984 Olympic Games, and announced his retirement last October. He resides in Atlanta.
Accompanying Holyfield to the race will be Henry Tillman, the 1984 heavyweight gold medalist.
Holyfield will also have a rooting interest for Saturday morning's PricewaterhouseCoopers 250 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race. Holyfield's Real Deal BBQ Sauce will co-sponsor the No. 40 Berg Racing Porsche Boxster co-driven by John Weisberg and Jonathan Smith - a two-year competitor in NASCAR's Drive for Diversity program. Smith, a 26-year-old native of Beacon Falls, Conn., scored a fifth-place finish at Iowa Speedway in his second K&N Pro Series East race in 2007, and finished 11th in the 2009 championship.
