ATHERTON HEADLINES ALTERNATIVE FUELS PANEL
American Le Mans Series President and CEO Scott Atherton will headline a panel at the Canadian Motorsports Expo on Saturday in Toronto that will discuss the sport's role in the development of practical and relevant fuels for race cars and road cars.
The American Le Mans Series, the Global Leader of Green Racing, already has proven itself as a pioneer in the area of alternative energies. Its rulebook allows and encourages the use of multiple fuels including E10, cellulosic E85, sulfur-free diesel and hybrid power. Participating teams and manufacturers use the Series' platform to develop and test new automotive technologies that eventually will find their way to dealer showrooms around the globe.
Saturday's discussion will begin at noon on The Canadian Tire Stage, where Atherton will be joined by several experts for talks on energy issues and motorsports-related solutions for the future.
The American Le Mans Series will make its annual visit to Mosport International Raceway, just outside Toronto, on August 27-29 for the Mobil 1 presents Grand Prix of Mosport.
The American Le Mans Series will open its 12th season with America's greatest sports car race, the 58th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida from March 17-20. The green flag will fall at 10:35 a.m. on Saturday, March 20 with live coverage on SPEED. For ticket and accommodation information, see sebringraceway.com.
The annual American Le Mans Series Winter Test is scheduled for February 22-23, also at Sebring International Raceway.
